About this deal

Nintendo Switch grips come in all shapes and sizes. Some are designed exclusively for the regular Switch or Switch OLED, while others, like the stellar Satisfye ZenGrip Pro, are compatible with both models. Naturally, the significantly smaller Switch Lite requires its own separate grip, but there are great options for the handheld-only Switch, too. Since the grip has a power bank inside, it is heavier than the other grips on this list. The bulkiness that it adds works in its favor when it comes to ergonomics, though. The increased depth combined with rounded handles makes the Switch more comfortable to hold for longer play sessions. As the main draw here is extended playtime, that's certainly a good thing.

Split Pad Pro vs Compact: which Joy-Con alternative is Hori Split Pad Pro vs Compact: which Joy-Con alternative is

Comparing the controllers playing Hollow Knight (Trial of the Fool), it's just way easier on the Pros compared to the others. Some of that may be muscle memory, but trying to hold Y while hitting B with the base of my thumb was a lot more difficult. Funny how they only mention "don't include HD Rumble, NFC an IR camera or wireless functions", but what bugs me the more is gryo control, and they don't say a thing about the controller not having it, like if it was less important. The Split Pad Compact is functionally the same as the Split Pad Pro, so if you're happy with the existing Hori grip, there's really no reason to upgrade. The difference between the two is the size of the controller. The name cues you in on this fact already, but the Split Pad Compact is a trimmed- and slimmed-down iteration on the Split Pad Pro. It offers an entirely different form factor. Oops, I've turned Baldur's Gate 3 into a soap opera RPG because I can't stop flirting with everyone

HD rumble though, now there's something that I actually use and value. That, and the type of games that I would desire a d-pad for aren't the type of games that I would need a gyro and camera for anyways. RubyCarbuncle eevee is another one that it is extremely overrated and appears every where. The charmander line, the mews and gengar are other examples.

Hori Split Pad Compact Review - IGN

Olmectron Yeah exactly. should be a common addition by now on all switch 3rd party controllers. especially by a company like Hori. I've been using the Split Pad Pros for the last year or so happily as the original Joy Cons are way too small and cramped for my hands (I've got pretty averaged sized hands for an adult male, typically a size medium for most gloves). To me the Split Pad Pros are very comfortable, much closer to using something like an Xbox controller. I use the Switch exclusively in handheld mode and was using them with both a standard Switch as well as an OLED version. Why this D&D actual play series featuring the voices of Geralt and FF16's Clive is going to be the next big thing Original Article (Fri 23rd Sep, 2022 02:55 BST): Accessory-maker Hori has revealed it's teaming up with The Pokémon Company to release Pokémon-themed Split Pad Fit. GENGAR!? ON A CONTROLLER!? SOLD! Also nice to see mimkyu. And is that a case to go along with them? Double sold!Honestly, I'm not too impressed with them. They are more comfortable in the hand than the Joy Cons, but still not very comfortable. Hands are still positioned with the thumbs too vertical instead of angled, which feels cramped. The ABXY buttons on the Compact have a little bit of a concave design rather than the convex buttons of the Pros, which creates a little sharp edge that irritates my thumb. Kind of like the old NES/SNES controllers I used as a kid. Also, my ring/pointer fingers on the right controller rest on another sharp edge which is irritating. The Pros are big enough that you can rest the whole Switch in the meat of your palms and then keep your fingers loose for playing, where the Compact like the Joy Cons I have to kind of squeeze my fingers to keep the Switch steady. In case you missed it, these Joy-Con-like controllers are a follow-up to Hori's Switch Split Pad Pro, and are officially releasing here in the west as the Switch Split Pad Compact. They'll be available here in two different colours, but over in Japan there are four - and now even more options to choose from!

Guide: Pokémon GO Eevee Evolutions Ranked - How To Get Sylveon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Umbreon, Espeon, Vaporeon, Jolteon And Flareon Whether you're in the market for a grip for Switch OLED or the regular Switch, we'd recommend opting for the ZenGrip Pro 3 since it's compatible with both and is available for the same price. So yeah, all they needed to do was add a rumble capability to get me to buy one of these, but I guess they are too cheap to do that even. Both Split Pad models are definitely worth considering if you're goal is to not only improve the ergonomics of handheld mode, but add more traditional controls.I don't really have much need of them, have a Split Pad Pro and two and a half sets of Joycons (have an extra right one) with no one to really play with anyway, but that Pikachu and Mimikyu one is fairly tempting. If these were proper fully-featured Joy-Con, I would absolutely leap at these, but as they are, it’s a hard pass. Rumble often makes such a tangible difference in games, especially as I have been mostly playing classic DOOM over the last couple of months, so much so that playing it on PC again without the tactility of rumble feels like a downgrade! (though both platforms have their pros and cons)

As with Satisfye's previous model, the ZenGrip Pro is extremely lightweight--it doesn't make the console feel any heavier (in fact, because it makes holding the Switch so much easier, it almost feels lighter). The bottom of the grip has two hooks for additional console support, and they also allow the Switch to stand securely upright on its own, with enough room for the charging cable to run underneath. Other big issue for me is the feel of the buttons. The ABXY buttons are too mushy and imprecise feeling. The Joy Cons are small but feel crisp and precise, and the Pros feel again like an Xbox controller with a crisp response and springy rebound. When he’s not paying off a loan to Tom Nook, Liam likes to report on the latest Nintendo news and admire his library of video games. His favourite Nintendo character used to be a guitar-playing dog, but nowadays he prefers to hang out with Judd the cat. The Split Pad Compact is ideal for those who think other Joy-Con replacements are simply too large. This was my primary complaint with the Split Pad Pro. It was a tad too bulky. If you regularly play your Nintendo Switch in handheld mode, the absolute best accessory you can buy is a detachable grip. Though the Switch is one of Nintendo's best gaming consoles ever, not everyone finds the default form factor very comfortable--especially when playing for hours in a row. Thankfully, there are third-party accessories that drastically improve the Nintendo Switch's ergonomics. We've rounded up a handful of the best Nintendo Switch grips available in 2023.
