Having a longer hose is undoubtedly very beneficial for being able to leave the pressure washer in one place while cleaning. Karcher hose lengths range from 4m (most K2 models) to 10m (K7 only), the mid-range K4 models have a 6m hose. Excluding the compact EasyAquatak range, which have a short hose length of 3m, Bosch hoses run from 5m to 8m. Specification wise, Bosch has considered nearly everything. Before use it is important to prime the machine to avoid damage to the pump. Attach the supply hose, High-Pressure Hose and gun but do not connect to the electric supply. Turn the water supply on and squeeze the gun trigger realising any air in the pump. After a few moments water will start to come out of the gun barrel and once a steady flow is achieved release the trigger. The pump is now primed and the machine can now be connected to the electric supply and switched on. A nice touch with the Bosch is that it comes ready assembled, whereas you have to connect some of the Karcher parts together yourself before you can get started (nothing too technical though). Both machines have wheels and height adjustable handles but the Karcher does appear bulkier. In fact, it is, weighing 11.4kg compared to the Bosch’s 7.9kg. The Karcher K4 has a ‘Full Control” trigger spray but this only shows you what you have adjusted the lance setting to (you probably know as you have just done it). The Bosch has a simpler “3-in-1” trigger that adjusts between fan, rotary and pencil spray.
