This album has only been released on vinyl twice since it first came out in 1996. Over two decades later, Aenima is Tool’s second highest-selling album, right after Lateralus, with over 3.3 million copies sold. If the record you’re trying to classify as official or bootleg is a sealed one, the way the shrink wrap is sealed is another indicator you should keep in mind. I couldn’t find anything verifying none of us will be able to buy a CD of 10,000 days, Undertow, etc (other than official OOP ones from collectors) end of 2012. I don’t want to make any assumptions about Tool’s items until there’s verification. One last thing….I am still trying to figure out if this is a reissue or a bootleg….I’m leaning towards bootleg because I cannot find any info anywhere about an official re-issue release….and to me that is really odd considering this is such a highly sought after LP.

Due to the incredibly high prices of official versions of Aenima on vinyl, most of the album’s versions sold online and at your local record store are likely to be bootlegs. I already asked for many pictures and they all seem to match the guide, but still I’m not sure if it’s an original press. All those bootlegs make me suspicious about the listed offers online. While the majority of Tool’s albums, and their 1992 EP Opiate, have seen a vinyl release in the past and are widely available, some remain outside of the grasp of your average fan. Someone has taken all of the randomly labeled tool mp3’s that floated around in the Napster era and made a bootleg vinyl from them. There’s a nice Tool font used, and some Pink Floyd-ish cover art.
