About this deal

a b Barnard, Robert (1990). A Talent to Deceive – an appreciation of Agatha Christie (Reviseded.). Fontana Books. p.205. ISBN 0-00-637474-3. Lady Caterham was a large woman – large in every way. Her proportions were majestic, rather than ample.” This best-selling author of all time wrote 66 crime novels and story collections, fourteen plays, and six novels under a pseudonym in romance. Her books sold more than a billion copies in the English language and a billion in translation. According to Index Translationum, people translated her works into 103 languages at least, the most for an individual author. Of the most enduring figures in crime literature, she created Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple. She atuhored The Mousetrap, the longest-running play in the history of modern theater.

Christie often stayed at Abney Hall in Cheshire, which was owned by her brother-in-law, James Watts. She based at least two of her stories on the hall: the short story The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding, and the novel After the Funeral. Abney Hall became Agatha's greatest inspiration for country-house life, with all the servants and grandeur which have been woven into her plots. As the cute "Bundle" Brent tries to figure out what's going on, Dame Agatha adds still more layers of mystery to the puzzle, and what started out as almost a day trip to the Fun House becomes a terrifying excursion into the unknown. I like the female amateur sleuth, Bundle (Lady Eileen Brent), much better than Inspector Battle. She has an energetic personality and is determined to ferret out the truth by whatever means she finds necessary -- even hiding in cramped closets. Inspector Battle appears in 5 of Christie's novels. From the quirky to the thought-provoking, it’s the place to grab a true piece of (comfortable) wearable art. The Vintage ShowroomAnything by Dorothy L Sayers (especially Strong Poison), Sophie Hannah’s Hercule Poirot series and The Honjin Murders by Seishi Yokomizo.

a b c de Clercq, Peter (25 February 2013). "The sundial column at Seven Dials | The Story of Time". blog.ahsoc.org. Antiquarian Horological Society . Retrieved 26 March 2017. I don't want to say anything that could spoil the story, but I thought the reveal had that special touch of classic Agatha to it. Overall, enjoyable without being gripping or especially memorable. One of Christie's more light-hearted stories. This quirky boutique was started in 1999 by two art school graduates trying to avoid getting real jobs. Today, it is one of the best-loved of the Seven Dials shops – and Rosie and Harriet are still at the helm. To increase the desirability of the neighbourhood, they gave all of the streets fancy names, and built a massive sundial as a centrepiece. This had – you guessed it – seven dials (technically one was a column, but you get the idea), giving the area its name.
