About this deal

It is very different from the original A*Men, yet still in the same vein, in the sense that the aroma profile is strongly geared towards an older crowd, with more sophisticated tastes. About the fragrance: Pure Malt has a very sweet start! Musk and patchouli immediately give it an earthy touch. Together with the peat and whisky, you actually have the feeling of being sprayed with a long aged alcoholic drink. This "flag" surrounds one the first few hours and is also clearly noticeable for the wearer. In the further course of time, the woody notes are added. The whole remains as a sweet-woody film on the skin. My favourite so far. I don´t know what, but something about this aroma gives me the feeling that this is the best fragrance ever. On a side-by-side wearing of each on different wrists they are similar but I find Creation 2013 somehow more appealing, with its beautiful, sweet, slightly woody, boozy note that evokes the aroma of fine Scotch whisky reminiscent of the way Escada Magnetism for Men evokes the aroma of red wine. Warm, fizzling (Or effervescent) fresh and just a hint of sweetness layered atop bitter and floral wood.

The new limited edition range ‘Liqueur de Parfum’ is subtly different. The A*Men Pure Malt 2013 is a fusion of A*Men and the world of fine spirits, made possible by a patented method inspired by traditional techniques used to produce the finest Whiskies. The fragrance is aged in toasted American oak casks to reveal a smoky fragrance that is subtly peaty. Overall, this is a nice perfume, one that I like a lot, but Pure Malt is reasonably close and done better, without the sharp, powdery edges that render Amber Wood a bit challenging. As a massive fan of the A*Men flanker line, I have A*Men, Pure Tonka, Pure Shot(Energy), Pure Havane, Pure Malt, B*Men and Pure Leather, so I decided to add the most recent flanker A*Men Ultimate to my collection. Since this was released in 2019, I decided I better grab it before it was discontinued and shot up into the hundreds like all the other flankers. I am still hoping to get a bottle of Pure Coffee and Pure Wood. I can live without the others. The wearer can be both young and older. Only about as a teenager under 18 I would rather avoid him because of the alcohol content ;).

I doubt it’ll be what you’re looking for in a daily wear, but as a secondary option you break out on occasion, this is a definite yes. It´s not the best amber out there, but it´s also different. Nothing like Ambre 114, this Amber Wood smells more like a mixture of Amber and Oud. Newer boozy smells are boozier, sweet gourmand fragrances are sweeter, and there is more frequently an emphasis on realistic expressions of food and drink. While I certainly enjoy those, I think they also show how balanced and ahead of it all the Mugler A*men line was, and for many, Pure Malt is the best of this line. The whole thing is warm, sweet, and gourmand. Angel Men Pure Malt is an experience all its own and probably one of the best colognes on the market. It’s application is niche, but it does things so utterly well, that I want to spray it on more and more. The sweetness doesn't pose a problem for me, because it's far from the bubblegum sweetness you're used to from the mainstream. It is loud, but not too intrusive (you don't have to spray a thousand times). The durability is very good, on the clothes it is still omnipresent and on the skin I was able to perceive it yesterday easily 5 hours without further ado.Fragrance Amber Wood is a true masterpiece based on extraordinary shades of amber. It is built around juicy fruit and spices, accentuating apple, white pepper, lavender and cardamom, leading us to the warm heart composed of woody-powdery notes of orris and cedar wood. The base of the composition is formed of hot shades of amber wood and patchouli. Overall, I think it’s great but I don’t think it’d be for everyone. It can be quite pricey, it is limited by the climate you live in, not for those who don’t like the smell of malt (obviously), etc. If you travel to UAE, you'll find many more local brands with almost identical scent. I think the name Amber Wood is a bit misleading because the amber note in this fragrance is not the heavy amber resins which is the common one. I always find that note too feminine and mature. Instead what you get here is a very musky and fresh amber. With a 60-year-long tradition, Ajmal presents a very special and luxurious Signature collection which includes three extraordinary fragrances based on wood: Amber Wood, Hatkora Wood and Santal Wood. The name of the collection is W Series and it provides three niche compositions as additions to the current rich offer of the house of Ajmal, which will provide top quality raw ingredients to customers in the Middle East. Amber, Hatkora lemon and sandalwood can be found in the ingredients of the three new perfumes and they originate from the countries best for their origin, ensuring additional value for fragrance connoisseurs. When the whole set is used while and after the shower, the staying power is outperforming almost everything.

On the other hand, this is a very well done entry from Thierry Mugler and is at least worth a try for a lot of guys. There is an ensemble of fruit-like notes within the gourmandish accord that envelops the bold malt. They are strongly muted, as like to preserve the sense of masculinity, while also striving to have an effect of ambrosia about them (the nectar of the Gods). This is likely not a work scent. This is casual fragrance, and could be worn day or night, but I imagine it could be really nice as an after hours/nighttime, date fragrance, or for a day at the beach. I find this flanker to be a nice unique scent that has little to do with A*Men or its other family members. This is a sweet coffee, a gourmand scent that is similar in my mind to Rochas Man. This is disappointing to me, because I already own the Rochas, and was expecting something a little stronger and closer to the A*Men scent. I am comparing them side by side on both arms. I liken it to a sweeter, fruitier Rochas Man. Rochas Man has more of a burnt caramel coffee scent, with a kind of cheap feel to it, and A*Men Ultimate is a light coffee scent surrounded by woods, with an elevated quality. There is something fruity and juicy behind the woods, likely the bergamot. It is interesting, but not groundbreaking due to my association with Rochas man. This is a different take on a gourmand as it is drier, dustier and creamier than Rochas. This gets a solid like for me, but not a love like most of the other Pure line. This feels like it’s good for fall, winter and spring. Projection wise, Pure Malt is fairly strong, but not crazy so. You’ll notice that it’s there and so will other people around you but it shouldn’t choke anyone out unless you went overboard.

The opening of Pure Malt really sets the stage. Man, is this a rich and enticing fragrance. It kind of reminds me of B*Menalso by Thierry Mugler but way better with less spice and an enjoyable fruitiness. On a night in, this has great projection. The scent is smooth, rich and well balanced. The opening is beautiful and recalls the original A*men but is more welcoming, fresh and less intense. It's very casual, romantic and does not shout, so it'll get use on date nights for sure. I’ve been really digging scents that feature a boozy type of aroma, and Pure Malt is beautiful, like a fine whiskey. There is a warm sweetness in the same vein as Pure Havane but with alcohol in lieu of tobacco.

The opening is to die for. Rich, dried fruits and waxy, Red Vine licorice soaked in Malt Whiskey. With an earthy patchouli and peat moss underneath that is a signature of the A*Men line. Licorice isn't a listed note, but that's the scent image my mind conjures... Another update: the more that I’ve worn this, the more the positive reactions, outweigh the negative or indifferent. There are times, where this gets an insane number of complements, while out on the town. to me it is quite a linear fragrance progression which is not a bad thing when it smells this good. Also i dont have the performance issues that are often mentioned, lasts 8 hours on skin and mildly projects for about 2.5 hours, cant expect more from such a well priced fragrance. I am in receipt of your message regarding t he difference between the original A*Men Pure Malt and the A*Men Pure Malt Liqueur de Parfum Creation 2013. The whiskey accord is there, but fairly tame. After about 20 minutes I can detect the peat in there. It’s odd but somehow it works.Due to its limited nature we unfortunately do not carry any samples of these fragrances however there are a select few stores who are selling the original A*Men Pure Malt such as Harrods London, Selfridges London, Birmingham, Manchester Trafford, Frasers Glasgow and House of Fraser Birmingham. This is a rich and sweet fragrance, while at the same time balanced: deep and light. It has fruity high notes of apple and pear and citrus; deep vanilla, coffee, and amber; yet it is grounded by earthy tones from malt, patchouli, tobacco leaf, and cedar. Wear this underneath the clothing and enjoy your morning cup of coffee in the Fall air.
