When the dog pulls, both loops tighten, restricting the whole head, the dog backs off from the restriction, in other words STOPS PULLING! The soft, figure 8 design lead teaches your dog to walk calmly by your side with this simple-to-use design that’s comfortable and soft for your puppy to wear. Like all management tools it's not a cure, but used correctly, it can help in retraining a dog which already pulls.

I have used dogmatic headcollars with double ended lead but prefer the Gencon all in one with clip to collar. In the middle of the ‘8’ the webbing crosses over itself: this cross-over goes under your dog’s chin. Regular washing at 40°C will get rid of all the grit and dirt, keeping the Gencon All-in-1 or Headcollars soft and comfortable on your dog. Like all headcollars, used as a management tool in addition to, not instead of, training, it was very useful for me. As you should expect resistance – particularly in the early days, but with every expectation of reducing over time – start off with the Gencon in a nice, quiet, environment with the only distraction being a handful of treats.

I have a Gencon and I found Zimba tolerates it much better than any other headcollar, including the Dogmatic. Place a piece of tape on your dog's nose, take it around the muzzle, cross it under the chin, then take it around the back of the head (all in one piece) add approximately 3 inches to allow for ease of taking off and putting on.

Put your dog’s head through the loop of the ‘8’ closest to the length of lead and let it hang loosely around your dog’s neck.
