The vocabulary list available here has been created by 11 plus tutors who know which words children usually get wrong the most. Make them a welcome visitor rather than an uninvited guest by helping your child learn what they mean. Of course, learning 11 plus vocabulary is just one part of preparing for this exam, and it's important to fit in lots of practise before each individual test. That's why we've created a whole range of resources that parents and tutors can use to help their children prepare and be confident ahead of the big day. Games such as Scrabble, Boggle, word searches and crosswords can be really useful to help your child discover new words and consolidate their meanings. Playing word games together can make the process of vocabulary learning fun for your child, helping them stay engaged and motivated while aiding retention. 3. Every other week construct a little test to ensure these new words are bedded in. Remember a good vocabulary can only be developed with frequent word exposure. Go down part of the list each week with your child, where a child can spell and accurately define a word move on.
