About this deal

Jacob Walters′s dad has worked to make his son′s life a living hell. But when the cute new transfer student suffers his father′s wrath, Jacob must make the hardest decisions of his life.

What's beautiful is the meanings I attributed might be different with another pair of eyes. But as it is said in Every Word You Cannot Say, we are all Here and we all matter. There universe has a song for all of us and I look forward to reading more by Iain S. Thomas.I've said all I wanted to say, so I'll close out with one of my favourite passages from the collection: And while you're waiting, if you haven't read A Mark on My Soul or Watching for Comets, you have plenty of time. All three of these books are in the Noahverse, but they're easily read as standalones too. You just might get a few neat little extra things out of it if you read the first two books before Every Word You Never Said comes out. I wanted and hoped to write a 100%, five star, totally happy with this book, review. After spending nearly three months going from one book to the next, not finishing any because of issues with the narrative or the writing, I had hoped Jordon Greene's Every Word You Never Said would snap me out of this downward spiral of implausible stories.

Sometimes it felt like the author was “telling” instead of “showing”. For example, Skylar teaches Jacob how to ride a bike, but we never actually get to see that. They go on a dates (to a concert, to a café), but again, we don’t see much of it. They also seem to text a lot (particularly, they have a conversation about ~being intimate~ with each other – discussing whether they want to do it, and how to be safe), but we also never get to see it either. Not only is this bad because it’s “telling instead of showing”, but also because it’s a missed opportunity to let the readers see their relationship develop (which is something I really would’ve liked to see, since I really don’t buy their “love” for each other as it is lmao 🥴).Every Word You Never Said is the perfect YA mix of sweet and romantic, with a dash of small-town drama thrown in to boost the angst-o-meter to an entertaining and engaging degree. Jacob is self-conscious about his appearance (although it only comes up when it’s related to Skylar being into him… okay). Don’t get me wrong: I totally understand disliking the way you look (I do too lmao) but in this book the issue is never actually explored. Jacob just whines about being “too pale and skinny” for Skylar to ever like him (as if skinny white e-boys aren’t the beauty standard in 2022 🥴). It’s not really body dysmorphia, and he isn’t even unattractive (he’s literally always described as super hot!!!). It honestly just felt like Jacob was throwing himself a pity party. I know that at least once, if not several times, someone you knew woke up in the middle of the night thinking of you and wondering what became of you. There are some hidden gems in here. This book made me think quite a bit. However I actually didn’t like most of the poems in the second half.
