Our Black Sunflower Seeds are a fantastic food for all year round feeding in either; a seed feeder, a sunflower feeder, a ground feeder or on a bird table. The black sunflower seed is popular with our smaller garden guests, as it’s easier to open than striped sunflowers because of a softer shell. Black sunflower seeds are an excellent food for a good number of garden species and notably Greenfinches, Great tits and Coal tits.

Dig in a nutrient-rich fertilizer such as aged manure or a slow-release granular fertilizer – about 8 inches deep. This variety has grown bigger and faster than the other 3 varieties I’m growing and has been the first to bloom. Black Sunflower Seeds are high-energy, high in fibre and nourishing, with plenty of protein and essential vitamins and minerals.This is why we’ve specially selected these black sunflower seeds for the high oil content — so birds can benefit the most. This will keep the seed dry and allow species such as Coat tit and Greenfinch to perch by the feeder ports and easily take the seeds.
